The Levosulpiride is the levorotatory enantiomer of the benzamide derivative sulpiride, a specific antagonist of the dopamine D2 receptor, and also has a moderate 5-HT4 receptor agonist effect and a weak 5-HT3 receptor antagonistic effect. It is used clinically as an antiemetic, anti-gastrointestinal dysfunction drug and anti-psychotic, with high selectivity and weak antagonistic effects for dopamine D2 receptors. It has a very powerful effect on blocking apomorphine-induced vomiting in humans and dogs, alleviating apomorphine-induced tonic spasticity in rats and reducing apomorphine-induced spontaneous movement inhibition in mice.
